Solo In Estonia's East

We took a train east from Tallinn toward Estonia’s Russian border, passing through Jõhvi before continuing to Sillamäe, a former secret Soviet uranium town. We explored Sillamäe’s abandoned hotels, shops, schools, and Soviet architecture, then continued to Narva, where we visited the border with Russia and saw the fort across the river. We also travelled to the deserted mining town of Viivikonna, exploring its abandoned houses, school, bus station, and mine buildings before reflecting on Estonia’s Soviet legacy.
