We take a train from Vilnius to Visaginas in search of a Soviet mosaic, passing forests, villages and the former Ignalina nuclear power station along the way. We explore Visaginas, a Soviet-built town populated largely by Russian-speaking residents, and talk with people about its history and decline after the power plant closed. We eventually find a well-preserved mosaic called “Man and the Elements” and have a drink beneath it.
