We travel from Lebanon into Syria and continue to Damascus, where we explore the Umayyad Mosque, the historic streets, and a traditional mosaic workshop. We visit the bustling Damascus Souk, sample cardamom coffee and handmade ice cream, and experience the surviving tradition of a storyteller in an old café. Along the way, we meet generous locals and reflect on Syria’s history, cultural diversity, and continuing crisis.
