We road-trip across southern Yemen toward Mukalla and stop repeatedly to find gasoline, often buying it from children selling fuel on motorbikes when regular gas stations are empty. We learn that shortages, war, and disrupted supplies have pushed gasoline prices up dramatically, despite Yemen’s oil reserves. We eventually reach Mukalla safely, where a power outage leaves us trying to cool down with a frozen water bottle.
