The Dark Side of Fast Fashion - The World's Largest Clothing Dump

We visited Accra's enormous second-hand clothing market and examined bales of used clothes, many of which were damaged or so poorly made that they fell apart after one wash. We spoke with traders and importers about how clothing is collected in Europe and the Gulf, sorted in Dubai, and shipped to West Africa, where unusable garments become massive waste piles. We also explored fast fashion's role in this cycle and suggested donating good-quality clothes that others can use more than once.
