We travel through Yemen’s countryside and the city of Sayun, meeting welcoming locals and hearing about the effects of war, poverty, unemployment, and limited access to electricity and basic supplies. We discuss the country’s political and humanitarian crisis with Kais and Abdul Hamid, who share their hopes for peace, stability, and a better future. We reflect on Yemen’s diversity and resilience, learn about the traditional janbiya dagger, and conclude the trip with hopes of returning to explore more of the country.
