The Syria The Media Won't Show You

We travelled from Beirut across the border into Syria and explored Damascus with our guide Rami, visiting the old city, eating shawarma and watching a football match. We then left the capital and headed north towards Maloula and Homs, passing military checkpoints and seeing the destruction left by the conflict. In Maloula, we explored a damaged hotel, met locals who speak Aramaic and learned about the village's history and wartime suffering.
