The Tribal Women Who Tattoo Their Faces (in Pakistan)

We travelled from Karachi to a remote Kachi Koli village in Sindh, where we were welcomed with a traditional bridal ceremony and shared a meal prepared by the villagers. We helped collect fodder, experienced village life, joined the evening prayer and danced with the community. We learned about the women’s facial tattoos, compared them with our own, and dressed in local clothing while reflecting on the beauty and difficult social and economic realities of the region.
