We left Irkutsk early and took a six-and-a-half-hour third-class train ride to Ulan-Ude. We compared the crowded, less comfortable third-class carriage with our earlier first-class experience, while enjoying beautiful views of Lake Baikal and the autumn scenery. We also explored the sleeping arrangements, storage, bedding, and limited electrical outlets before arriving in Ulan-Ude.
