This American Town is Run By Druggies (Slab City)

We enter Slab City in the extreme California desert, explore its abandoned trailers and landmarks such as Salvation Mountain and East Jesus, and speak with residents about their lives in the off-grid community. We hear about the heat, drug addiction, crime, isolation, and the reasons people come to live there, while also seeing the community’s creativity and mutual support. We finish by attending a nighttime concert and conclude that Slab City is less lawless than expected, but remains a difficult and resilient place shaped by both hardship and art.
