We left Riyadh with our friends and drove into the desert for a weekend barbecue, stopping at a small shop to buy sauces and trying on a traditional sheepskin garment. We set up camp, collected wood for a fire, and visited a shepherds’ enclosure, where we greeted the shepherds and met their sheep or goats. Back at camp, we grilled lamb chops, shared stories, and enjoyed the quiet desert surroundings.
