Traveling to the “Worst” Country in Europe

We traveled to Moldova for three days to see whether its reputation as the worst country in Europe matched our experience. While exploring Chișinău, we met Mikhail, an outgoing elderly man who became our guide and took us to a monastery, an abandoned Soviet amusement park, the beach, and a traditional festival at a castle. We also met Moldovan locals and Ukrainian refugees, learned about the country’s history and future, celebrated a birthday, and helped Mikhail by giving him a phone, new clothes, and money.
