We visit Djemila, a remarkably preserved Roman city in northern Algeria, and explore its temples, theatres, baths, markets, main square, and baptistery with a guide. We learn about the city's ancient history, including its 229 AD temple, 18-shop food market, original limestone ruins, and former population of around 15,000 people. We also marvel at having the UNESCO World Heritage site almost entirely to ourselves and consider it one of the best Roman ruins we've ever seen.
