We Visited the Most Remote Town in Australia

We drove a truck camper from Alice Springs deep into the Australian Outback toward Kiwirrkurra, navigating remote dirt roads, rough campsites, and long stretches without seeing another vehicle. Along the way, we met local residents, tried to find witchery grubs, sampled native plants, and spotted wild camels, including a mother and baby. We eventually reached the outskirts of Australia’s most remote town and camped nearby so we could enter the community the next morning.
