Why I Came To The Syrian Border

We explored Antakya and Hatay, sampling local hummus and knafe while learning about the region’s food and culture. We then drove toward the Syrian border, where we were turned away but visited Yayladagi and saw how Turkish and Syrian communities, languages, food, and traditions overlap. We met welcoming locals, shared tea and food, and spoke with friends just across the border in Syria.
