Why Is Everything Free In Turkey? (Seriously!!!)

We explored the markets of Gaziantep and sampled pistachio treats, baklava, Turkish tea, and the local dessert katmer, while shopkeepers repeatedly refused to accept payment. We then ate kebabs and received freshly baked flatbread from a nearby shop, again experiencing the city’s remarkable hospitality. We reflected on the generosity of the people in Turkey and the idea that everyone should be treated as human, regardless of their background.
